Second day of the schoolyear, in pictures

Today was MUCH better than yesterday, because Casey was--ahem--- forced to take a real nap :)
We did everything I had planned and so much more.

hurray for 2 kid nap time-amen sister! my kids are 4, 6, & 8 and i still most days have my 4 & 6 year olds take naps. it just makes the whole rest of the day run better. my 6 yo says that it's not fair b/c when my 8 yo was 5 1/2 he stopped taking naps, but emotionally and physically he could handle it, this one can't. he's really good about it tho, he always asks to stay up and if the evening is going to be a relaxing one, then sometimes i let him, but if i know that what lays ahead is something that he needs a nap for then i say no, he sometimes cries, sometimes not. and sometimes he actually just goes to bed on his own.

here's hoping the rest of the year goes just as well for you:)

Yea!
Looks like a great day! Congrats on the 2 kid nap! We just don't get naps at all anymore :-( Sometimes Ruthie will just fall asleep in the car or sitting on the couch, but not usually. Tommy is the one who needs them (he's SO much like Casey) - but he RESISTS!

I'm so glad you felt better about today - you certainly were able to get some great pictures!

Thanks everyone!!!

That map is actually a piece of fabric! I saw this map fabric at Wal-Mart years ago, and I brought itup to the cutter-lady and just said "cut me one whole map"-I have been meaning to attach a fleece blanket to the back of it or something and make it an edu-blankie LOL but so far have not.

This is the best computer, even thouh git was under $300 used, it has this little port-slot where you pull the memory card out of your camera, pop it into the slot on the front of the computer, and BOOM, your pictures are right in there, now. So it is REALLY easy. Otherwise I would have never been able to deal with any pictures (my old blog just had silly pix that I got off of the internet)

I didn't really force Casey to sleep, that sounds so horrible! I BRIBED him :) I promised him skittles and staying up late and watching a movie with Daddy if he would stay in and not come out. I was shocked that it worked and heaped praise on him all night.

he was up until 10 but I dont care one bit. He hung out with Steve and I while we cleaned up and he didn't bother a soul.

will it happen again? I sure hope so.

Greta and Mickey took naps until about 5 1/2, too, Kris--sometimes they slept, but mostly it was for me, especailly when I was pregnant. they had to lay in their beds and if they were SUPER QUIET I would "LET" them read! (See how sneaky I can be?)
I had them begging to read books.

I would come back in five minutes with a big stack of books, picture books, atlases, and sometimes an ice water or little cheese and crackers or something.

Then I would go rest myself!
Ahh those were the days....
it has still bee very hard for me to get out of the habit of thinking of naptime as MY resttime--now it is right on to the big kids! Phew!

Joy, the pictures are so beautiful and really show the spirit of your dear kids and how much they love and cooperate with each other.

So glad Casey was a good boy about taking his nap!
